Glossary – Dr Kiera Lindsey

This Saint Michael Vanquishing Satan was by an early Raphael and conveys themes common to her poetry so I speculate it was a source of inspiration for Aesi, who like many of her era, preferred early and ‘Pre-Raphaelite’ art.

For Wild Love, I attempted to evoke the nineteenth-century worlds Adelaide Ironside and her peers lived within through a range of reference, including names, slang, and terms little-remembered today. A glossary covering some of these words is included HERE, ranging from historical references to Victorian fashion to the opium-laced realm of nineteenth-century patent medicines. Although this glossary is of course only partial, I hope it inspires further exploration.
